Hello Yoga friends and students, I am finally getting round to
teaching some online yoga classes and below you will find details of
what I will be offering for the coming week beginning the 13th
April. I have been rather unwell myself over the last
week or so, maybe coronavirus as some of the symptoms fit, but not
having been very ill I find it hard to completely convince myself
that's what it was. But in any case it has made me feel weak
and unwell enough to modify my practice and I have been doing mostly
restorative sessions, so that is primarily what I intend to offer
you this week. I have experienced some breathlessness and I
have been directing my attention towards what helps that and what
might aggravate it.
Even if you are not ill this is potentially a stressful time for all
of us and it is important to perform yoga in a way that reduces
tension and anxiety. It is also useful to understand how to
manage one's practice in the case where one does become ill, gaining
proficiency in restorative practice in advance is a good idea.
This includes:
1. Understanding one's personal limitations and how to work
within them for the best result
2. Knowing what equipment is needed and how to arrange it
efficiently for your own personal needs
3. Knowing how to modify for the best effect if you lack items
of equipment
4. Being well rehearsed in the sequence: If one is unwell
moving equipment and going from one position to the next can
be exhausting. Conserving energy is important.
5. Knowing how to adapt the posture or supports for a better
result if effects are not beneficial
6. Learning what is beneficial under different circumstances
and how to proceed with courage and caution.
6. Staying quiet, focussed and aware

confidence flows into you" - BKS Iyengar
